To live in the very centre of Milan forgetting all about the city, but overlooking it from above. That is what has been possible thanks to the design that has given a new spatiality to a common flat with balcony situated on the top floor of a 20th-century building. An escamotage that has proved to be necessary so that the owners could not regret the choice to give up the sparkling metropolitan life of New York moving to Milan. The traditional distribution of the spaces in the flat has been modified to obtain greater transparency and fluidity in tune with the committents’ aspiration to a lifestyle inclined to an open spatial organization. The new greenhouse built on the terrace introduces a vertical spatiality and, at the same time, allows diffuse light to filter into the flat underneath: as a shed it contributes to confer a loft character on the new living space.
